Khor Virap & Areni

South toward the mountain. Khor Virap puts Ararat closer than anywhere else in Armenia — the view from the monastery walls is the country's defining photograph. We continue into wine country: the Areni-1 cave, where the world's oldest winery was unearthed, a tasting at a family vineyard, and the rose-red cliffs of Noravank to end the day.
